Connecting to PuffiMail via Hotspot¶
AP Mode Web Configuration¶
PuffiMail enters AP configuration mode in the following cases:
- When first powered on and not yet configured
- By short-pressing the button 4 times during the selection window
- By pressing and holding the button for 10 seconds to restore factory settings
To trigger this interaction, press and hold the button for more than 2 seconds to wake the device and enter a 20-second selection window.

🧭 Available Button Actions¶
During fast blinking:
- Short press 4 times → Enter AP mode
- Long press 10 seconds → Perform factory reset and reboot
- No input → Timeout after 20 seconds, return to deep sleep
💡 Even though a quick tap may wake the device, it is recommended to hold for >2 seconds to ensure it enters interaction mode.
🛠 Configuration Steps¶

Connect to the Wi-Fi network: Smartmailbox_Sender
Password: 12345678 -
Open your browser and visit:
http://192.168.4.1 -
Configure Wi-Fi and MQTT settings, measure and save baseline distance, or upload firmware via OTA.
Once configured and restarted, PuffiMail will automatically connect to your Wi-Fi and exit AP mode.
